Congratulations goes out to John Bonk. It was announced Tuesday April 1st, that the former Burlington Brave lineman (1970-71) is to be inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame this fall. He will be joining other Brave alumni who are already in the Hall, Tony Gabriel (1985) Peter Dalla Riva (1993) and Bernie Custis (1998)...
After playing for the Braves John, played part of his first year of professional football with the Hamilton Tiger Cats. In 1973 he went to Winnipeg where he stayed with the Blue Bombers up until 1985, when he retired. He was selected a CFL all-star four times in 1982, 83, 84 and 85. Was a member of the 1984 Winnipeg Blue Bomber Grey Cup team and won the CFL Outstanding Lineman of the Year Award also in 1984. John will be joined in the Hall this fall with other players Doug Flutie, Pinball Clemons, Mike Pringle and Builder Tom Sheppard. Over the years, John has been a tremendous supporter of the Burlington Braves and the Alumni. |
